Dallas Love Field adds new Southwest routes alongside rental and private aviation expansions
Travelers passing through Dallas Love Field can look forward to new nonstop airline routes, an expanded car rental presence, and a major private aviation campus development.

Travelers using Dallas Love Field will soon gain new flight options, a fresh rental car choice, and expanded private aviation facilities following a series of recent updates from airport officials. Southwest Airlines announced that nonstop service between Dallas Love Field and Richmond International Airport will begin on June 5, 2027, according to an airport social media post. The carrier also scheduled a seasonal route connecting Dallas to Bozeman, Montana, for the summer of 2027. In addition, Southwest reported in a press release that all its flights will feature Starlink WiFi access by the fall of 2027.
Ground transportation at the airport has grown with the opening of a new SIXT rent a car branch located at 5800 Maple Ave. The branch provides local travelers and visitors arriving at the airport with vehicle pickup options across the Dallas area. Company executives said that the new location expands the provider's network to serve one of the nation's largest metropolitan economies.
Private aviation is also expanding significantly at the facility through a project led by NetJets. Construction permits filed with the city of Dallas and records submitted to state regulators indicate that the $35 million development will cover 80,000 square feet. The campus project will feature a private passenger terminal, an aircraft maintenance hangar, shops, and office space. Work on the facility is scheduled to begin in November 2026 and wrap up by May 2028. The multi-phase development involves the demolition of six existing aircraft hangars and Terminal J down to their foundations to clear the site.
Airport operations are receiving further updates with ongoing boarding bridge replacements across the concourses. These infrastructure improvements are designed to accommodate passenger growth as the airport continues to serve millions of travelers annually. Construction schedules remain active through the fall season.
